What is the date of effect in SkillSelect
Checked 2 November 2026
Your date of effect is the date your EOI reached the points score it has now. It is used to break ties between EOIs with the same score in the same occupation. It is not the date you first created the EOI.
When it changes
Any update that changes your points (up or down) resets the date of effect. Updates that do not change points, like a new address, do not.
Losing points
Turning 33, 40 or 45, or a work period falling outside the last 10 years, can drop your score automatically. Check your EOI before each round.
How we use it
Our 189 queue tool uses the month your EOI was submitted, which is the nearest public figure to the date of effect. Treat the result as an estimate.
